Sewing Tip for Tuesday, November 24, 2009

Don’t expect a garment sewn from a pattern to fit perfectly. It might, but it probably won’t. You are almost certainly not the exact size and shape of the imaginary person the pattern is designed to fit. Expect to alter the pattern, even if your alteration is just to lengthen or shorten the pattern on the lengthen and shorten lines provided. Some styles are forgiving in fit and you won’t have to alter them, but pattern alterations, whether minor or extensive, are a part of sewing.
